Why travel with Ana New York?

Ana New York brings years of first-hand travel experience, insight, and personal connections to every experience. We’ve not only build experiences that we would sign up for ourselves, but we take great pride in designing itineraries that would be nearly impossible for a solo traveler to achieve in a single trip.

How do deposits, cancellations, travel insurance, and refund policies work?

We require a non-refundable 40% deposit to secure your spot on any trip, and the balance 45 days before the trip begins. As many of our advance costs are also non-refundable, we’re unable to absorb the cost of cancellations.

Life is full of surprises. If for any reason you should need to cancel after you’ve paid the full balance, it may possible to return part or all of the 60% balance depending on the amount of notice we receive and other factors. However, your travel insurance should be such that this is covered. That’s why we require it!

What's included in my trip?

Although it may vary slightly from trip to trip, we go into detail about what is included and what in not on each trip description page. Generally the following is included: accomodations, travel to and from the airport, some meals, experience entry/tickets to locations on the itineraries, transportation to scheduled events, and special events where mentioned.

So what’s not included?

We’d LOVE to give you the world, but even our powers are limited. So! Guests are generally responsible for the following unless otherwise noted: airfare, incidentals, souvenirs, alcohol, travel insurance, and visas/entry fees in and out of any country.

What is the deal with travel insurance?

ANY requires all guests to purchase travel insurance on their own with a minimum coverage of $200,000 USD. It must cover personal injury, medical emergencies, loss and/or damage of luggage, repatriation expenses, and evacuation expenses. We require proof of insurance no later than one week prior to departure. You can often purchase insurance when you purchase your airfare, and in many cases, your bank or credit card my also offer it automatically, but there are third party providers like World Nomads, Best Day, Insure My Trip, that gotcha covered, as well. For your sake and ours, we mean business. Failure to show proof of insurance will result in the loss of your spot on the trip without a refund.

What about visas?

Visas, entrance/exit fees, and any other travel-related costs are the full responsibility of our guests. Some countries, like Mexico, allow citizens from certain countries to pay these fees upon arrival/exit. Be sure to research ASAP for any documentation you’ll need!

Will I have free time?

A bit on some mornings and evenings, yes. Our schedule is pretty packed with adventure, which is what makes us special. Once we depart the hotel in the morning, we’ll stick to our itinerary. If you opt not to join, we’ll catch up with you soon, but we cannot make special trips for individual guests outside of our schedule.

Is Mexico safe?

Yes. Especially with Ana New York! We take great measures to insure the safety and comfort of our fellow travelers, from arrival to departure. We have locals guides and drivers with you at all times during scheduled outings. That being said, general common sense and appropriate behavior is expected from our travelers at all times. Please take the time to learn about local mores, traditions, holidays, and basic courtesy phrases in the local language to ensure the best experience possible.

Really? I heard somewhere that….

Shhh shhh shhh…. Don’t believe everything you hear.

What’s the climate like?

Contrary to popular belief, Mexico City is not tropical. At an elevation of 7,300 feet, it has mild winters and is sunny practically all year long. It can be hot and sunny at night and pleasantly cool during the evening. The rainy season runs June-October, but the daily showers are short and predictable and we do our best to plan to be indoors during the 1-2 hours it may rain. Bring layers and an umbrella! Because of the elevation, you may notice some changes in your body. Nothing we’re planning will require extreme activity on behalf of our guests and we’ll give you some pointers on how to acclimate.

How’s the pollution?

The city is making huge strides to improve the air quality, and it changes daily depending on the weather. Some people may notice the difference to the air quality back home, and some people may not give it a moment’s thought. If you’re concerned, have a look online to see what you can do to prepare!

We will provide more details in our welcome packet, that you will receive way in advance of departure. This packet will include emergency contact information, hotel information, information on local currency, recommendations for packing, and other travel tips.
